Bathroom Trends for 2018

It’s the start and end to your day and a place for relaxation as well as everyday life. What place are we talking about? Your bathroom! Each year, we want to make sure our loyal customers see cutting-edge trends in home design so they can make informed decisions for their next project.

The trends we’re seeing emerge for 2018 are a mix of old and new. At Ewing, our designer, Sara, can incorporate these ideas into the bathroom of your dreams.

1. Brass is Back

The warm tones that come with brass, or gold tone, hardware or décor elements, complement many of the popular paint colors and flooring options.

2. Wall-Mounted Toilets and Bidets

Wall-mounted lavatories provide a clean, modern look for any bathroom. No exposed pipes along with the illusion of floating add to the appeal. Also, bidets are becoming more accepted in the U.S. and can complement a wall-mounted toilet.

3. Floating Vanities

Along the same design lines of the wall-mounted toilets, floating vanities offer a very clean, open appearance. They also provide more space to show off a beautiful floor while still providing storage space.

4. Texture

Unique textures and patterns, whether in wall tiles, wall coverings, flooring, or furniture, can add warmth to your bathroom. Added texture will also give contrast, and personality, to the space.

5. Technology

“Alexa, run me a bath.” Technology is becoming more sophisticated in all aspects of daily life, including the bathroom. Smart showers, mirrors, toilets, all can be controlled by your phone, tablet, or Alexa. You can ask Alexa to fill your tub while you finish the dishes.

6. Statement Mirrors

Mirrors are becoming statement pieces in bathrooms. Typical shapes like square and rectangle are being traded for oval, diamond and other unique shapes. As an anchor piece in the bathroom, a mirror can make a huge impact on the look and feel of your space.
