Kitchen Trends 2018

You’ve heard the saying: the kitchen is the heart of your home. We couldn’t agree more. It’s both an everyday space, and a place to entertain and make memories with your family. For many people, it’s also a spot to organize your life and greet each day. Every year, we keep track of modern design trends and write about our favorites.

This year’s kitchen trends bring together practical solutions and innovative approaches. At Ewing, our designer, Sara, can incorporate these ideas into the kitchen of your dreams.

Color – Green, Purple

Popular colors come and go–which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This year, we’re seeing a lot of greens paired with brass fixtures. Of course, Pantone’s color of the year informs these designs a lot. With last year’s “Greenery” giving way to “Ultra Violet,” we’re likely to see a lot of purple as well.

The days of clunky storage are gone. Today’s storage options are forward-thinking and innovative. Companies like Medallion Cabinetry are making pull-out cabinetry that takes advantage of all the vertical space in your kitchen to deliver more storage than ever before.

Every room in your home is getting “Smart.” Your kitchen is no exception. From refrigerators that allow you to detect when your milk is running low to dishwashers that you can control and monitor from your phone, smart home technology isn’t slowing down.

Hardworking Islands

Maximize the usability of your kitchen by installing an island. Kitchen islands add prep space, storage options, and a place for handy kitchen appliances like a warming tray or built-in microwave. They also allow for extra seating. If your space allows, we highly recommend installing one in your next kitchen remodel.
