PAUL EWING

Meet Paul: Great Risk for Greater Reward

Paul Ewing, owner and founder of The Ewing Companies, is not a man you might assume takes risk. His journey to starting his family-owned business, however, was just that: a leap of faith.

Paul got his start in the remodeling business at an early age. His father converted old homes in Bluefield, West Virginia into apartments, teaching his son the ins and outs of remodeling as he worked. Paul enjoyed working hands on but looked forward to managing a larger company that did multiple projects.

A Time to Heal–in the Kitchen

The homes we live in are about so much more than the spaces themselves– they are the backdrop for our stories and experiences. Debbie Ewing lost her mother, Mary Coppino Wood, on January 10, 2017. In the days to follow, the family gathered to remember her mother’s beautiful legacy and the ways she impacted so many people around her. The funeral took place on a Saturday but the entire weekend was family focused.

A Love for Transformation: Meet Jason

Growing up, Jason was always busy making and building—you should have seen the forts he was capable of constructing. That love for construction never did dissipate, now it is put to use each and every day with our company.

It was around the time that Jason was graduating from high school that his father, Paul, founded our company. The family business presented an exciting opportunity to roll up his sleeves and get to work with his hands, cashing in on something he always loved doing. What began as a part-time job in 1996 has become and long and fulfilling career for Jason. Continue reading “A Love for Transformation: Meet Jason”

Meet Brad: Passion & Perfection in a New Career

IMG_8774Blacksburg has a way of calling people home. Whether the natural beauty of the area brings folks back or the promising industries coming to the area affords them work, many people find themselves back here after a long time away. Brad Ewing is no different. For the longest time, three of four Ewing family members have worked at The Ewing Companies. Once Brad graduated from a private high school, enlisted in the Air Force, found a passion for golf and made a career out of it, we didn’t think this small town would ever see Brad return for more than a short visit. We definitely never dreamed he’d come back to join The Ewing Companies team.

Meet Sara: The Ewing Companies Designer

Sara, The Ewing Companies, Cabinet DesignerAll four members of the Ewing family work for our business. However, the mention of family extends beyond those that are related by blood. Sara, our designer, has become part of the family since joining our team in 2015. She is fun and easy to be around, the kind of person you’d enjoy sharing an office with. She is also gifted when it comes to understanding the unique needs of each client and translating those needs into a well-functioning and beautiful space.

We first met Sara when she worked for her family’s company, G&H Appliance. She maintained that summer job while attending Virginia Tech (VT). Her choice of Virginia Tech was a clear one. She had attended summer camps at VT while in high school and quickly fell in love. Although she toured other colleges, nothing compared. She knew she wanted to be a Hokie she wasn’t as clear about the perfect plan of study. Her initial major was Biology, but it didn’t take long to realize it wasn’t the right fit. It was while working at G&H appliance that a happenstance conversation with a customer encouraged her to check out the Residential Environments and Design major. This suggestion ultimately resulted in Sara switching to the degree program and discovering her gift of design.
